About the Therapist

Reina Chang is a trauma-informed Art Therapist specialising in complex trauma and depression.

She currently works within a cross-cultural clinical context, which has strengthened her attention to individual differences and the ways that culture can shape distress, identity, relationships and meaning.

Reina has lived experience of mental health difficulties, which informs a grounded and reflective clinical stance and supports her commitment to empathy alongside clear professional boundaries.

She believes that seeking help is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and that suffering deserves to be met with seriousness, compassion and care.

In her practice, Reina aims to offer a steady and containing therapeutic presence, supporting individuals through states of overwhelm and gradual recovery. Art therapy can provide another way of expressing and exploring experiences that may feel difficult to put into words, while still allowing space for conversation, reflection and emotional understanding.

Her wider clinical experience includes trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment difficulties, neurodiversity, culture and identity, self-harm and suicidal ideation awareness, SEND, domestic abuse-related trauma and emotional regulation.

What to Expect

Reina offers a steady, compassionate and containing therapeutic space where difficult experiences can be explored at a pace that feels manageable.

Art therapy does not require any artistic ability or previous experience. The creative process can offer another way of expressing thoughts, feelings and experiences that may be difficult to communicate through words alone.

Sessions may involve art-making, conversation, reflection or simply noticing what emerges through the therapeutic relationship. There is no expectation to create something in a particular way, and the process is adapted to the individual.

Reina works particularly with complex trauma, depression, anxiety, attachment difficulties, emotional overwhelm, neurodiversity and identity-related concerns. Her cross-cultural experience also helps her remain attentive to how culture, family, relationships and personal history can shape the way distress is experienced and understood.

Her aim is not to rush recovery, but to provide a safe and consistent therapeutic relationship where clients can gradually make sense of what they are experiencing, develop greater emotional stability and move towards recovery with increased self-understanding and resilience.
