Clair Wilcox is a BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor with over 10 years of experience supporting people through a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
She qualified as a counsellor in 2015 and has worked across NHS-funded counselling, longer-term community therapy, private practice and clinical leadership roles.
Clair has extensive experience supporting people experiencing common mental health difficulties, including anxiety and depression, as well as relational problems, difficult life experiences and more complex emotional concerns.
Her approach is integrative, which means therapy can be shaped around the individual rather than following one fixed model. She works collaboratively, taking time to understand what is happening for you and what you would like to gain from therapy.
Clair has worked extensively within short-term NHS/IAPT counselling, while also providing longer-term therapy where more time and depth are needed. This gives her experience of both focused therapeutic work and deeper exploration of longstanding difficulties and patterns.
Alongside her client work, Clair is a qualified Clinical Supervisor and has held senior clinical leadership roles involving complex cases, safeguarding, risk management, ethical decision-making and supporting the professional development of counsellors.
Her aim is to provide a thoughtful, supportive and professionally grounded therapeutic relationship where you can make sense of what you are experiencing, develop greater self-understanding and work towards meaningful and lasting change.
Clair offers a collaborative and professionally grounded space where you can explore what is happening in your life and begin to make sense of difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Her integrative approach means therapy is adapted around you rather than expecting you to fit one particular therapeutic model.
Clair is experienced in both short-term and longer-term work. Shorter-term counselling may focus on a particular difficulty or goal, while longer-term therapy can provide more space to understand recurring patterns, relationships and experiences from the past.
She has extensive experience supporting anxiety, depression, relational difficulties and more complex emotional concerns, including clients whose difficulties involve childhood experiences, domestic abuse or increased levels of risk.
Clair’s many years in clinical leadership and supervision also inform a thoughtful and ethically grounded approach to therapy, with careful attention to safeguarding, risk and the individual needs of every client.
The aim is to help you develop greater clarity and self-understanding while finding ways of moving forward that feel meaningful, realistic and sustainable.
