Charlie Whatson is a qualified Integrative Counsellor who adapts therapy according to the individual rather than relying on one fixed therapeutic model.
Charlie’s approach can draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Client-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Gestalt approaches, depending on what feels most useful and appropriate for each client.
Charlie has a particular interest in supporting young adults who are experiencing anxiety, significant changes in their lives, difficulties understanding their emotions or uncertainty around their sense of self.
Wider counselling experience includes supporting people experiencing depression, bereavement and major life transitions. Charlie works collaboratively with clients to understand what is happening, identify what they would like from therapy and develop an approach that feels manageable and personally meaningful.
The aim is to provide a supportive and non-judgemental space where clients can explore difficult experiences, develop greater emotional awareness and begin to understand themselves with more clarity and confidence.
Charlie offers a supportive and collaborative therapeutic space where you can explore what is happening in your life without feeling pressured to have all the answers.
An integrative approach means therapy can be shaped around you. Depending on your needs, sessions may draw on CBT, client-centred counselling, psychodynamic understanding or Gestalt approaches.
Charlie has a particular interest in working with young adults experiencing anxiety or significant change, including people who may be struggling to understand their emotions, identity or sense of self.
Therapy can also support depression, bereavement, life transitions and wider emotional concerns. Together, you and Charlie can explore what may be contributing to your difficulties, develop greater emotional awareness and consider ways of moving forward that feel realistic and meaningful.
