About the Therapist

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, and finding the right therapist is an important part of that journey.

Cathy Hill is an Integrative Counsellor and Couples Relationship Psychotherapist who offers a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to talk openly about whatever is on your mind.

She works with individuals and couples experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, stress, loss, trauma, life transitions and self-esteem issues.

Cathy believes that every person’s story is unique, so therapy is tailored around you rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Her work can draw on Person-Centred, CBT-informed, psychodynamic-informed and trauma-informed approaches alongside her specialist training in relationship psychotherapy.

Together, you can explore recurring patterns, deepen your understanding of yourself and your relationships, and develop healthier ways of coping with difficult emotions and experiences.

When working with couples, Cathy provides space for both partners to feel heard and understood while exploring patterns within the relationship, communication difficulties and the changes each person hopes to make.

Her aim is to help you feel heard, understood and empowered to make meaningful and lasting changes, enabling you to move forward with greater confidence, connection and emotional wellbeing.

What to Expect

Cathy offers a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to change.

You do not need to arrive with everything worked out. Therapy can begin by making sense of what is happening now, before gradually exploring the experiences, emotions and relationship patterns that may be influencing how you feel.

Because Cathy works integratively, sessions are shaped around you. Depending on your needs, therapy may draw on Person-Centred counselling, relationship psychotherapy, trauma-informed work and CBT or psychodynamic-informed understanding.

If you attend therapy as a couple, the focus is on creating a space where both partners can feel heard. Together, you can explore communication, recurring patterns, emotional needs and the changes you would like to make within the relationship.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationship difficulties, stress, loss, low self-esteem or a significant life transition, Cathy’s aim is to help you develop greater clarity, strengthen your relationships and find healthier ways of coping.

Therapy is collaborative, and the goal is to help you move forward with greater confidence, connection and emotional wellbeing.
