Joanne Fretwell is a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with extensive experience supporting individuals, couples, students, bereaved clients, and people experiencing a broad range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
Joanne works integratively, adapting therapy to the needs of each client rather than using a single approach for everyone. Her practice draws on integrative psychotherapy, CBT-informed support, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and family systems understanding.
She has particular experience working with trauma, bereavement, anxiety, relationship difficulties, autism, ADHD, student mental health concerns, and the emotional challenges that can affect adults and older people. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in creating a safe therapeutic relationship where clients can explore difficult experiences without judgement.
Joanne offers a calm, supportive, and collaborative space where clients can explore emotional difficulties, relationship patterns, traumatic experiences, and important life changes. Her integrative approach allows sessions to be adapted to the individual, combining reflective therapeutic work with practical strategies where these may be helpful.
Depending on your needs, therapy may include EMDR for trauma-related experiences, CBT-informed techniques for anxiety and unhelpful patterns, or deeper exploration of relationships, grief, identity, and emotional wellbeing. Joanne’s aim is to help clients feel understood, develop greater self-awareness, and move towards meaningful and sustainable change.
